The Gritty Talks: Short TED-like talk for Graduate Students

3 Minute-Thesis Competition
Three Minute Thesis is an International Research Communication Competition. It supports students’ capacities to effectively explain their research in language appropriate to an intelligent but non-specialist audience. Participants will compete with one another and the winner will be given the opportunity to participate in a National 3 Minute Thesis Competition.
3 Minute Thesis allows the students to develop many different skill sets necessary for employment and careers, skills training, research communication, and gain a new perspective on their Research project.
The Gritty Talks
This is a short TED-like talk for Graduate Students. Students will be given 5 to 7 minutes to talk about any open-ended ideas. Topics can range from something that is new and surprising, an invention, or just an idea that the audience has never heard about. Prizes will be awarded for First Place, Second Place, and People’s Choice.
Participants are required to attend at least two training sessions with Scott Morgan in order to compete at the GEARS Symposium.
